We got 50,000 problems.

Last week I mentioned we had nowhere to live yet. Well, technically that's not true.
The last 2 and a half years we've been living at my Nan & Grandads Ex Bee Farm which, my Nan hasn't minded so far as long as I didn't forget to pick up her TV Times every week.
It was only right whilst we lived here to attempt to start keeping our own bees, something we started last Summer. Large emphasis on the attempt.
In hindsight probably not the best time to start when heavily pregnant and having to wear a head to toe boiler suit, in 28 degrees. Well, that one day we actually had some Sun. Bloody UK weather.
It was eventful to say the least and a definite case of all the gear and absolutely no f*cken idea.
The first attempt to just check on them resulted in the bees somehow finding their way into my suit and stinging my face multiple times, leaving me looking like something off the goonies.
The next antenatal appointment that week was interesting and I distinctly remember the midwife asking me not just once, but three times throughout the appointment if I felt safe at home.
Yes I replied. I've just got 50, 000 problems. Literally.
After our initial hello to the 5 hives we'd bought, and them basically telling us to f*ck off, we did manage to take out the frames over the next few weeks, using a smoker, and extracted some of the honey, using a spinner.
Apart from the odd 20-30 bees somehow finding their way inside our home and between fighting them off and our beagle chasing them thinking they were tasty snacks, we ended up with about 80 jars of bee juice.
We were pretty proud of ourselves and even prouder when our friends over at Lea Village Stores said they'd stock it.
So, if you fancy trying something that actually remembers honey, rather than that watered down sh*t at the local Morrisons, then head over and grab yourself a jar.
Now, we've just got to try to move them to their new home where we plan to expand the number of hives this year and plant a native wildflower meadow.
Please pray for us and hope they don't tip over on the drive there, as that will definitely make for a story in itself and likely a visit to Hereford A&E.
Further updates coming soon.
Roots.
Small Farm. Big Dream.
